Indianapolis, Ind. - The UIC women's tennis team knocked off Butler in the Horizon League Championship Finals to earn its 12th-consecutive league title on Sunday morning.

The Flames won the doubles point off the strong efforts of Lubica Nadasska and Kristen McPhillips at No. 1 and Ilinca Cristescu and Jenna Reisch at No. 3. Both duos defeated their Bulldog counterparts with an 8-6 decision.

With only three singles matches needed to clinch the championship title, the Flames lit up at the top positions as they have against league opponents all season.

Cristescu closed out a tremendous inaugural league campaign with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 over Butler's Molly Casperson. The 2008 Horizon League Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year concludes the pre-NCAA season with a perfect record in both singles and doubles against league foes.

Kristen McPhillips defeated Gabriella Bobrowski, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3, capping off her first year as a Flame undefeated against league foes at the third singles position and first doubles position.

Nadasska, the senior playing at No. 2 singles, closed out the match for the Flames with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Natali James for a UIC victory.

The Flames will head to the NCAA tournament on May 9 for the 10th straight season. The first round site will be determined on Tuesday, April 29.
